I have touched upon “ordinary ways” and Subsistence. As:
Of the many truths the horror of Gaza has etched on us, one is this: we have to take the instruments of Western largess in the same vein as we now know the US led Western based ‘consensus’ on all things human: as one big lie.
In that spirit, we continue to look for alternates to the big lie that are based on the ordinary ways of subsistence.
A prominent instrument of stupendous lie-dom is the World Bank with “Financial Inclusion” as one of its lies (Wetiko of Financial Inclusion).
Here we take their data and try to eke out possible rays of light where the poor of the world can be seen resisting the push toward this nefarious inclusion.
Sifting through the mob of indicators in their data and picking a few which might give us that glimpse of hope, this is what we get (the indicators picked and the method of combining them are given on the chart).
Earlier we noted how Sub-Saharan Africa gets a disproportionate amount of funding for financial inclusion. Here we see that despite that push, it is the region of the world most reliant on traditional ways of borrowing and saving (the downward trajectory in the final year is worrisome, and we hope Sub-Saharans can buck this trend).
Also, with the exception of East Asia and Pacific, all other regions are getting more ‘subsistent’ despite the incessant push for financial inclusion.
Superficially, the anti-technology attitude might seem non-progressive at first. Keeping in mind the “good intentions” of the fancytalk fintech folk, we can train ourselves not to fall for this ruse.
Here is another slightly hopeful trend from the same data: how cash-reliance is making a comeback in low and middle-income countries across the board.
If you are hoarding meaning in number in the rigid numeracies of the past if the bolt and rigor of vapor are not enough to count the rustle of oneness has no taste beyond the culpability of fear the numeric obstinacy of the horde -
